Hey there,
Thank you all for your responses. This issue keeps being investigated. It seems that some players who are using Windows 10 have fixed the issue by installing the update KB5046613.
As soon as I have more details I will update it here.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
-Groguet
Was hoping installing update KB5046613 on Windows 10 would finally resolve this issue, but alas even after this update applied, game will still not launch. Crashes after EA WRC small Splash screen (before game goes full screen).
The ONLY fix I have found (after trying many of them in this thread), is to delete the file contents of:
%UserFolder/AppData/Local/WRC/Saved
(delete the three files starting with D3D characters)
If I delete these before launching the game, it works.
This issue ONLY occurred after install the 2024 DLC package. I can't believe I have paid for this "upgrade" and it is still not resolved. I wish I never purchased this. I want to love this game but the graphic stuttering and now this makes it impossible to recommend.

So @EA_Groguet What's the update? I honestly think that you guys don't care. At what point can I get a refund for the DLC and the original game? In no other sphere could you get away with supplying a faulty product and not give a refund!
What are you doing to fix this issue? Please have the common courtesy to keep your customers updated on what you are doing to fix the issue that you have created.

In folder C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\OpenXR-MotionCompensation
I've found file WRC1.0.0.0.ini created when I've launched the game.I've opened the file and modify enabled=1 to enabled=0 and saved.
Now the game can be launched with steam.

Looks like that at least one ushaderprecache file is causing the issue ...
After deleting D3DCompute_*************************.ushaderprecache (deleting all 4 files also works - that's what I did first when I saw these files)
in the folder C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\WRC\Savedit is working again - there will be stuttering on the EA Animation, but the game it self works.
Be aware that you have to do this before every start of the game!!!To avoid going to the folder and delete hte file every time you can also create a batch file (e.g WRC.bat) on your Desktop (or a link to the file on the Desktop) with the following content:
del C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\WRC\Saved\D3DComput*.*
explorer steam://rungameid/1849250
exitNow you can simply execute the batch file to delete the file and start the game using steam.

^^
yet another fix that doesn't work on Win11 / EA App
There are no d3dcompu*.* files in ..\appdata\local\wrc\saved - or anywhere else on the system, Win11 Insider Pro 27754
- 3 months ago
Doesn't work on Win10 either. The files are not there.
FFS EA, get rid of your BS anticheat. No one gives a crap. It's just a game that people want to enjoy.
Also prevents anyone from using Vjoy which some of us use with button boxes etc...
Just get rid of it if you don't know how to fix it or what the hell you're doing.
Every single other racing title I have works except WRC!

That's weird ...
I'm on Win11 24H2And since I figured this out I can play w/o any issue.
Full config is:Win11 24H2
5800X3D
RTX4090
If I delete any of these 4 files they are recreated as soon as I start WRC ... - 3 months ago
Of I course I would appreciate the removal of anticheat (esp. when taking into account is a security threat), but imho this is not the reason for the game not starting ...
With the above procedure I can play w/o any issue, but in the events I still see this (sorry it is a german installation of Win11) every time I start WRC - 3 months ago
Honestly no idea what's going on but those files are not there. And I have the same error in the event log... eaanticheatservice failed to obtain origin directory

As these files are used by directX12 ...did you switch back to dx11 using the startoption?

Regarding AntiCheat
Om my Win 11 Insider 27754 / 3080 / Am5 7700 system the game will not run - symptoms as per the OP - but I don't see the AntiCheat error.
I do see Info events thatFile System Filter 'EAAntiCheat' (10.0, 2024-11-14T23:05:29.000000000Z) has successfully loaded and registered with Filter Manager.'
File System Filter 'EAAntiCheat' (Version 10.0, 2024-11-14T23:05:29.000000000Z) unloaded successfully.
on every attempt to start the game. Approx 15 seconds between the two which corresponds with clicking on Play, seeing the logo then video with sounds
E!
A!
Sports!
then EA app reappears
Any relevance?
Exact same on Win 11 Insider 27754 / 3090 / Am4 5950 - 3 months ago
The game worked fine for me until ten days ago.
Now the game starts normal, but when I finish the rally stage I´m playing in carrer mode, it goes to desktop, and restarting the game it goes directly to the stage start.... So I can´t advance.
I´m on Windows 11

@EA_Groguet As previously asked, what is the procedure to claim a refund on this purchase that doesn't work???
- 3 months ago@Dodgeuk45 I think that EA just don't care about us and just want to make money with DLC...

Well as it seems to have fixed it for a lot of you guys, I recently never had issues, on 2 pcs, and now after the update, I played for 1 stage, wrc crashes my pc (edit: I
actually don’t know if it was wrc but I find it odd , never crashed before and gives me trouble with wrc after I try to relaunch it…), and after restart I get this message, see attached picture. @EA_Groguet

This is a serious * joke!!! Another update for content and a game that still refuses to start!!! But what the hell are you waiting for to react!!
- 3 months ago@blacksto1 Just because it works for you doesn't mean it works for the rest of us. This shxt still broke
- 3 months ago
Maybe we don't close it because it still doesn't work for a LOT of people...

Since EA doesn't seem to want to take seriously the fact that we can't play what we paid for, I suggest we take a look at their latest Facebook post. With so much visibility maybe we will end up being taken seriously?
