Hello!
I'm reaching out in hopes that this message provides additional clarity to the dev team regarding a technical issue that seems to have been introduced by the latest update.
I noticed this problem being discussed in the topic: WRC Steam Not Launch - Answer HQ. In that thread, an EA employee (Barry) suggested running the System File Checker to ensure Windows System file integrity: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support.
When I initially encountered this issue after buying the game in July, I followed that advice, and it resolved my problem ( Solved: Issue with EA SPORTS™ WRC Game Crashing on Start-Up - Answer HQ ). I’ve since enjoyed around 135 hours of gameplay.
Today, however, after the latest update, I’m facing the same issue as others in the thread. I ran the System File Checker again and received the message: “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.”
Despite this, when I click the Play button on Steam, the game closes on its own after attempting to start.
Unlike some others, I have error messages from the Event Viewer that might help diagnose the problem.
I also noticed other posts reporting the game not launching after startup, suggesting it might be related to an anti-cheat kernel update or something in the “Origin Directory.”
While some think a recent Windows update is responsible, I suspect it’s more likely tied to the game update based on the Event Viewer logs.
Attached are the Event Viewer messages I encountered.
I hope this information is helpful.
Best regards
