Update process need too much free space on hard drive

I have EA sports WRC in steam so I don't know which one is to blame. I was trying to update the game and it always ended up in error when writing on disk. Then I complained about in in steam forum ...

This seems to be working as intended. Some games require significantly more space to update because they have to unpack and patch a lot of compressed game files. Every game is different and it should vary from game to game.

Is it really working as intented since in the requirements it says 80gb of free space when in reality you need 300gb of free space?
You could argue that it installs to 80gb of free space but you cant use after next update if you don't have 300gb of free space.
