VR Stutters generally, have done some checking...
I hate a vague report like this but it's a general performance issue similar to loading or shaders stutters, and I have done a little to try to track it. I've tuned many a game in VR and can tell you a few things:
- Max or min settings, the issue is the same
- Settings that typically are GPU related make no difference
- Settings that are typically CPU related make no difference
- At this point I would say get an SSD, but I have good ones
- RAM? Try 64G DDR5
- CPU? i9 13900
This isn't the kind of game I can turn around in to see if the shaders recompile when the user turns around 180 degrees so I can't tell if they're being compiled as needed. The area around what I'll call the Village in Estonia is particularly horrible at times, and that area looks as if it's at 18 fps in the best of times but the headset is getting 90.
It's acting as if my system is underpowered in some way that is not helped by settings, but you can see that "underpowered" is one thing my system is not:
- i9 13900
- 64G DDR5
- RTX3090
- HP Reverb G2
- Windows Mixed Reality
