The anti aliasing method used in the game is really not appropriate in VR. Antialisasing on any level except low makes the game extremely blurry, like I'm wearing incorrect glasses, additionally they create stereoincorrect ghosting effects, especially in the rain. Windscreen wipers even make trees "grow" and "shrink" momentarily.
Any upscalers make the game incredibly stereoincerrectly blurry too.
Turning AA off (Low) makes EVERYTHING shimmer badly. The only bearable settings are reducing anisotropic filtering, so the textures are a bit blurrier and putting trees on ULTRA LOW, because then they turn into cutouts without much detail. At least they stop to distractingly shimmer and let you focus on the road, which makes you forget that trees are just cutouts. Funny enough trees graphical settings barely make any difference in GPU frametimes. Funny enough ground cover models are so giant, you don't really notice them shimmer. But thin objects like fences, wires etc do shimmer and it's still distracting during a race.
Can we have proper MSAA antialisasing?
