Missing Exotic shards

i got the passes for both splits last season and the second split for the season before last which put me at 30 shards all together. last split or last seasons second split there was an event that you could get them from by opening the event apex packs, in which i got them putting me to 40. i got into a chat however they said i used 10 shards on 03/28/2025 at 6:55 UTC, now with that being said the only way you can use the exotic shards is by either having the prestige weapon skins or throwable skins, in which you have to use heirloom shards for the prestige skins(something i also never had) so there is no possible way i couldve used the shards and now im just out of 10 for nothing? am i the only one that has had this issue?
