Battlefield 6 will not start on PC

When launching the game via steam desktop, I get a splash screen with a green progress bar that fills up, followed by a black battlefield 6 window which stays open for about 30 seconds before closing, and then steam says the game is no longer running.

I have enabled secureboot, I have the latest nvidia driver, and I've reinstalled bf6 and rebooted several times. So far that's as far as I've gotten.
