Game Crashes to Desktop on Campaign Start

My game just closes as soon as I want to start the campaign.
It just closes, boom, back to desktop, no error, nothing else. Tried it over and over, got it on Steam, restarted Steam, deselected all the dlc properties in Steam and reselected, validated game files, lowered graphics. Nothing works.. Highly frustrating

CM title edit

Hey everyone,

Thanks for continuing to share your reports about the campaign crashing on launch issue.

We’ve recently identified a possible contributing factor:
It looks like some antivirus programs may be falsely detecting the single-player executable and blocking it from running.

Please try the following:

  1. Check your antivirus software to see if it has flagged or quarantined the single-player executable.
  2. If so, add an exception / allow list entry for the game’s single-player .exe file and then try launching the campaign again.

This has helped a few players get back into the game immediately.

Additionally, if you’re still experiencing the crash even after adding an exception, it would really help us if you could reply here with:

  • The name of your antivirus software (e.g., Windows Defender, Avast, BitDefender, etc.)
  • Whether or not adding the exception resolved the crash

Thanks again for your patience and for helping us track this down!

I'll also add that I've tried modifying many in-game settings (V-Sync, modifying quality settings from low to high and mid). This hasn't changed anything, the crash happens in the exact same way every time:
    Game freezes
    Audio freezes
    Audio comes back, game unresponsive,
Game crashes with no error message.

wildmustacheride  People like games for different reasons! Don't get me wrong, Multiplayer is fun, well-made, I just think I prefer other things.
I like a cinematic campaign, I like seeing how bad (or good?) the campaign is in these newer games. The gunplay is fun, I like shooting **bleep** in single-player, and I'm willing to spend some money to experience it!

Had a lot of fun in The last of us multiplayer back in the day, and I knew some friends that didn't really like the game, and only played the pvp stuff. I never thought it was wild that they found more enjoyment out of a different (less focused) part of the game!

    Hi EA_Leeuw ,

My antivirus (Windows Security) doesn't show anything in protection history for this.  Also, where would we find the single-player exe file?

This is now Day 4 of not being able to play the campaign, still have not been able to play it EVER.
