Portal Aim Assist Zoom Snap remains active when set to OFF
On PC/console with a controller in a Portal custom experience, Aim Assist is on, Aim Assist Zoom Snap is off. After saving and publishing, the crosshair still snaps toward targets when ADSing without stick input. Also persists when setting local infantry aim assist to 0.
This is especially problematic for competitive play. Competitive Portal matches often include controller and mouse-and-keyboard players, and the Zoom Snap behavior makes controller aiming behave differently from regular multiplayer.
When Zoom Snap activates while ADSing, it can unexpectedly move the crosshair toward a target even when the player provides no corresponding right-stick input. This interferes with consistent aiming, target switching, and muscle memory because the controller player cannot reliably predict how their crosshair will behave when entering ADS.
For competitive players who practice their aim and sensitivity in regular multiplayer, having forced or unintended Zoom Snap in Portal creates a different aiming experience during competitive matches. This can be particularly disruptive in fights involving multiple nearby targets, where the snap may pull the crosshair toward a target the player did not intend to engage.
The Portal Builder specifically states that when Aim Assist Zoom Snap is OFF, the crosshair will not snap near targets when entering ADS. However, I can reproduce this snapping with the Portal modifier set to OFF, and it even persists when my local Infantry Aim Assist setting is set to 0.
Please investigate whether the Portal Aim Assist Zoom Snap OFF modifier is functioning correctly. For competitive Portal play, it is important that server creators can reliably disable this behavior so controller input remains consistent and predictable.
