the AI’s pace in wet conditions on the wet tyres is far too quick and it’s impossible to keep up with them. Even changing to inters and doing faster lap times the AI are still going quicker on worn wet tyres. It’s almost like they have unlimited traction

Hey there,
Thank you all for your feedback. We have made some changes in patch v1.06 to improve the experience regarding AI and vehicle behaviour.
Because this thread is quite old and we have included new changes to the game, I am going to close it now.
Don't worry, we still want your feedback, and we are still listening to you. In this case, if you want to share your feedback/sentiment/thoughts with us, please refer to this discussion:

EA_Groguet I'm keen to hear what your response is as the 1.06 update has done literally nothing to fix the AI in the wet or the traction in the wet or even the AI superior top speed. I’m sure everyone wants to know what you’re doing to sort these problems now you must know nothing has changed and we all spent £70 on your game that is not fit for purpose!

Historically bad testing before release!
And to everyone wondering: Patch 1.06 didn’t fix this issue! - twistedartsglass6 months agoNew Vanguard
i get rain in almost every race weekend in career mode cannot turn it off or avoid it and cars are not even close to competative in full wet conditions this would be the best F1 release ever if only i could get away from this immersion breakage every single race weekend i have rain in saudi arabia which i believe or was under the impression it was desert

This is a real issue. Races with mixed conditions are impossible to set the difficulty level correctly. Its either I set it really low and in dry conditions I'm way faster than the AI Cars, or I set it too high so that dry conditions are competitive, but then as soon as the track gets wet the AI Cars are way faster than me. Makes Career Mode almost impossible to play with any consistency.

EA_Groguet EA_Lanna After the patch I tested it again. Alpine at Suzuka, medium TC, auto ERS, 75% difficulty. Same thing happens out of the last corner with the AI getting better grip and pulling away.

Nothing has changed.
AI is still overpowered on the straight. It's crazy.
AI has more traction. No dirty air. More ERS power when "overtaking" is active.
If you press the overtaking button at the same time, the AI pulls away.

The acceleration off traction corners are where the AI had all the advantages
You ain't gonna reach higher top speed than them at the end of the straight if you're already late on the throttle, and had lower rate of early acceleration due to not being able to use ERS because of low traction (and tire temp is worsening that).
The floor scraping the ground is a thing, but it barely happens because of how flat the tracks are in game
Australia final corner is a good example, still manageable for player, but very tough
And because the dirty air is stronger this year, it became even harder to stick to the AI's back to take advantage of the slipstream
AI do affected by dirty air too, but they seem to manage it much better
It is one of the reasons why the AI seems to be able to overtake player so easily even though you have DRS like them, they were taking full advantage of your slipstream because they are literally kissing your rear wing already at corner exit, whilst never needed to worry about battery
The dev is really not looking at where the root problem is
I don't know how much it takes to train the AI on how they use ERS, but simply making them having to be more conservative with the battery would already solve like 70% of the straightline speed issue
The other 30% is for tracks where tire temp is a major issue for player, AI needed to be affected more by that too
