I have looked online for this and seen references to the 'Mid-save bug' which obviously no one would ever think to research until the bug has already occurred.
I digress. I downloaded F1 25 and started a career mode as a new team. I've done every practice session and really spent a lot of time and effort on building up my team. I was on to Round 10 in Montreal and quit out of the game. I went back on a few hours later and imagine my horror when my save is showing as the first practice session in China, Round 2. This ridiculous game has wiped out over 8 entire race weekends worth of progress, development, tinkering and general time and effort which is completely wasted.
I wasn't even trying to do something like quit mid-session. It was in the free days between Catalunya and Montreal that I left the game.
Now I genuinely cannot bring myself to start again. Why the hell should I invest time and effort in a game with such game-breaking issues that haven't even been fixed a year after launch??
It's always EA games as well, I get the same frustration with EA FC, even if it's the free download version. EA must be the only company that can put games on the PS Store for free and somehow still leave people feeling like they still got a bad deal.
