Are you referring to the icon for "bad connection" shown in the right side of the screen?
When playing co-op this is typically always present, eventhough both my and my friends connection are with open NAT and 1000mbit using cable to the modem.
We did have some hickups lately when one of the latest patches dropped, as we had some network issues with our sessions, which we have never had before.
Im not sure if they nuked some of the netcode in the patch mentioned...
