crash on track load (PC)

This is a similar bug to some that are reported, but I see some of those threads are lacking info or going off track (pun intended!).

So I wanted to provide you with as much info as you need to identify and track the bug.  In a perfect world, this would resolve some of the other similar crashes reported.  Following EA_Groguet's guide F1 25  How to report a bug  EA Forums - 12211551

I am using F1 25 via steam.  The game crashes on track load every time I launch a Grand Prix or Time Trial.  I've not managed to successfully load a track in any combination I've tried.  Upgraded to Nvidia Game Ready Driver 576.52 before playing the first time.
Confirmed F1_24 via steam on the same PC still loads and plays fine.

I have tried various ways/changes which still result in crashes but that I have captured diagnostic info for and is attached to the post.

crash 1 - .  First run of game.  Go to f1 world, grandprix and tried to load canada, hamilton, Ferrari.  Loading screen appears, and after about 30 secs screen goes blank and returns to desktop.  No additional diag data captured.  No app crash reported in the eventlog.

crash 2 - repeated same steps as above.  App crash reported in event log for this.  captured DxDiag_dualscreen.txt, hardwaresettings and F1_25.exe.11252.running.txt

crash 3 - repeated same steps as above but selected different track and driver.  No app crash in eventlog. Captured F1_25.exe.15140.running_crash3.txt

crash 4 - rebooted PC then repeated with different track and driver. No app crash in eventlog. Captured F1_25.exe.14472.running_crash4.txt

crash 5 - unplugged second monitor.  repeated above. No app crash in eventlog. Captured DxDiag_Singlescreen.txt and F1_25.exe.3928.running_crash5.txt

crash 6 - repeated same steps as above (dual screen setup restored). but selected time trial F1 25.  No app crash in eventlog. Captured F1_25.exe.32344.running_crash6.txt

crash 7 - repeated same steps as above but selected time trial F2 24.  No app crash in eventlog. Captured F1_25.exe.32344.running_crash6.txt

I am willing to work with someone to troubleshoot and try things/retrieve info to help debug this.  I just ask that:

  1. someone from EA responds and acknowledges this post
  2. If it is marked for needing more info, that you post what info I can provide (and how).
  3. Anyone else posting to this thread keeps it specifically about this crash circumstance and doesn't deviate to different variations on the described conditions.

Thanks in advance for your attention.

  • Hey mate

You are not alone on this nightmare. Many other players are facing issues with crashes, specially if you use NVIDIA RTX 4070. I also faced same problem and here what helped me to minimize the crashes on game start and also while playing:

    • If you use NVIDIA, DO NOT use the latest version (try installing older versions and test it). I made multiple tests and the latest version is better to start the game but has no stability and the game always crashes when going into a GP mode and specially online.
    • Exclude hardware files:  . documents> my games>F1 25 and delete two hardware files
    • Fix the anticheat software. You can fix the anticheat by going to the game file and manually repair the software.
    • go to windows security and disable real-time protection. Once you are able to start the game you can go back to enable this.

If you do this you will continue to have issues to Start the game as sometimes the games takes time to load and you will face problems, but once you are in the game crashes will be minimal.

I reinstalled the game multiple times and also verified the game files and there are 3 corruped files which are causing all of this ......

    Cheers

Thanks llevy1234,  appreciate the ideas.  I've got NVIDIA RTX 2060.
I will give them a go and report back on this thread.  I noticed that there is another similar thread, where it worked on career but not through F1 World.  I've only tried F1 World, so will try the other modalities and see what happens.

Also just came across this post from EA about troubleshooting tips, so will try these out too.

    F1® 25 PC and Wheel Troubleshooting Guide | EA Forums - 12211575

Still hopeful that EA will pick up on this too.

  • I think you are on to something with the Nvidia drivers.  I found the following post by HeskyF1 here F1 25 - Instant crash at gamestart | EA Forums - 12219849 which "resolved" the issue for me, and the track starts every time.

    1. Open Documents in your file explorer
    2. open up my games folder and click f1 25
    3. Open up hardwaresetting folder
    4. open the harware_settings_config on wordpad by right clicking and pressing 'open with'
    5. once word pad is open scroll down till you find <rt_pathtrace enabled="true" />
    6. change it from true to false should look like <rt_pathtrace enabled="false" />
    7. Make sure you save the word pad then close it down
    8. right click on the hardware_settings_config again and scroll down to properties and change it to a read-only and then press apply

This is just a workaround really to the Nividia bug, not a full fix.  I have used this on the latest Nvidia Game Ready Driver 576.52, so using this with the latest driver may stop the other crashes you are getting.

Hopefully this thread gets noticed by EA, then escalated to Nivida for a fix in a driver update.

    Hey guys

I finally fixed the issue. In my case all the bugs were fixed by updating my BIOS. If you havent tried, do it as now i can finally play the game.
