No Anti-Aliasing Options in VR mode

Trying to get VR up and running after getting the non-vr graphics settings setup, and I found that there are no options beyond TAA and TAA + Sharpening while playing in VR mode. I doubt this is intentional because DLSS and FSR were available in VR for F1 23 and F1 24. I tried to circumvent this with the XML file by manually setting the correct values for DLAA, but it did not seem to work.

Hopefully this can be fixed promptly because TAA looks absolutely terrible and blurry.

Extra Info:
OS: Windows 11 24H2
CPU: AMD 5700 X3D
GPU: Nvidia 4080 Super
Drivers: 576.52
Headset: Meta Quest 3 through Steam Link VR

So my concerns have now been confirmed with this officially being labeled as a closed issue. What an absolute joke of a response they've given. So what, they just gave up? Is no one still attempting to make it work? Insane.

The worst part is that there has still been no effort made to solve the issues with the visual fidelity of the game - so unless you're mucking around with the config and then locking the file down so it can't change on restart, you're SOL. Just infurating.

Very true words. This game is the only game I can't play in vr. It's just impossible. I spent again 60 euro to have the same exact experience since f1 22. That unbelievably disgusting.

Thanks for putting this up. I was (and still am) amazed that the game looks like this. I was like: Huh, this can't be right !?

TAA screws it up badly making it so washed out. The 2D shots before and after you enter the cockpit are blur free. I wish you could just somehow enable that.  I hope for a fix or good workaround.

the vr experience is poor anyway. Since your dev team continues to ignore every issue that is posted here for the last 3 instalments despite F1 22 getting it correct. constant fog in night races that is pixelated and shifts across light sources and your display, inconsistent rain affects, forced TAA despite it blurring everything.

the config file doesnt even get respected on read only. I have changed it multiple times, removed write permissions etc. The game seems to sync config from elsewhere when you do this, even when offline it does not respect read only config file and just keeps things like the awful volumetric fog and forced TAA. All EA dev teams are completely incapable of working any problem, the games have gone backwards in VR support for years. The joke response you get from the community manager is short and purposefully disappointing as they sit there laughing on the stack of cash they made from the same copy pasted rubbish. The fella picks up a wage to post "not a bug" or "investigating" etc its a complete joke 😂

Can I ask you what SSW is? On F1 25 i'm blocked in 45 fps in VR while on f1 24 and f1 23 i play very well on 120 fps

  • I just want to bump this topic because it is indeed not acceptable to not have a fix for this.

I can understand that the feature was not ready on launch and was disabled to avoid big issues but it is a bug. It was working in the previous games so it is a regression.

TAA blur the most important area that is needed by the game: The track. Sharpening just help a little bit but the main problem is the TAA output.

DLSS is perfect for VR because it allows to have some kind of dynamic resolution with perfect sharp anti-aliasing with no so much artifacts.

Overriding the image scale to the max and setting the dynamic resolution of the game to the min will be a little less blurry but you pay the price when encoding and transmitting the video to your headset.

We need to have a fix for this. Please up-vote this thread or participate if you feel the same.

Maybe if needed we could put that in the spotlight to Digital Foundry?
