What needs to be reconfigured in the game afterwards?
They advised clearing the hardware settings back in 2024 for a different issue, here's what they said at the time.
This can be done simply by deleting the hardware settings files that are locally stored on your PC. After deleting, F1 24 will create new hardware settings files. The only data that will be lost from deleting these files will be any custom graphics settings you may have changed. All other save data will be unaffected. We will be updating F1 24 in a future patch to guard against issues such as these from recurring.
TLDR: it sounds like it will reset the graphics back to default.

Yes, that's essentially what will happen. Deleting those files will reset the relevant settings back to their defaults, and the game will recreate fresh versions of the files the next time you launch it.
If one of those files was causing the issue, recreating them may help resolve it. Afterward, you can simply adjust your in-game settings again to your preferences.
