On start game notifies me that I need an EA account to use online features.
I have had my current EA account for more than 3 years playing a wide range of games.
Most recent and common error message/code received is : 4112339850

If you are using a VPN you may want to try disabling it as that can often interfere with the game connecting to the server correctly.
Sometimes USB signals will interfere with the initial connection as well. Try launching the game without any USB plugged in, you can plug them back in after the game finishes connecting your account to the server.
