Advanced defending not working

I have Advanced Defending enabled, but my defender can’t shoulder, instead the “X” button just contains the attacker/ball and never challanges.

Defending is nearly impossible like this, this has been going on since fc 25 release and I’m actually getting depressed by this still being a problem in fc26…

  • I have the same issue. I mostly play Clubs, but can replicate the issue in any game mode on PC.
When pressing "A" on my Xbox controller most of the time no animation to challenge the ball happens. It feels like the opponent player is gliding away from my own player and not affected at all by the challenge.
This is with a level 50 Boss Archetype. Even when maxing out the relevant stats no animation triggers.

Comparing this to FC25 it feels like the "anchor points" where my own player would connect to the opponent are missing.

I swear its been working fine for me but I was just pressing the other button to activate it, not A

  • I’m experiencing the exact same issue. I haven’t been able to activate the Bruiser+ playstyle, even after trying multiple players across different game modes. It seems there may be a problem with Advanced Defending or with shoulder tackles in general.

  • Exact same problem. I tried both tactical & advanced defending but both are unable to execute shoulder push. All I can do is lunge, and every time I lunge I get side stepped. FIFA 18>FC 26

  • It takes AGES to Fix GKs and Bruiser. Its just unacceptable. How long will it take to FIX real problems. Today they release new patch and what we see? Oh they fixed Volley shots after Rainbow skill move.

EA said they listed to people but WTF are they doing its been 2 weeks and they still didnt FIX anything significant. 🤬🤬
