I am experiencing a critical bug in EA FC 26 Career Mode on PS5. Starting around the 2027/2028 season, absolutely all of my players (with no exceptions) show the status “Does not want to renew contract” even when they:
- have high morale
- play regularly
- have an appropriate squad role
- recently joined the club
- have a fair or increased salary
This issue has been going on for two full seasons, and it affects my entire squad every year. It is impossible to negotiate any new contract unless a player sends a complaint message, which is clearly not normal gameplay behavior.
Even players I signed recently immediately refuse all negotiations. Most of the squad is now entering the final year of their contract, meaning I will lose the entire team through no fault of my own.
This is clearly a systemic Career Mode bug, not intended gameplay. It completely ruins long-term careers (5+ seasons) and makes the save unplayable.
I have invested dozens of hours into this save and it is now impossible to continue.
Please escalate this issue to the development team, or at least officially acknowledge the bug so players know it is being worked on.

Experiencing similar issues in present Manager Career mode saves. The problem was slightly mitigated in a previous Title Update, however, again as always, less than half the problem was fixed, and completely ignored for the past few weeks. The entire system to be removed, developed from scratch, and re-introduced in FC 27 at a minimum. Another game breaking issue with this new methodology is when starting a new career mode save with existing players on long-term contracts with low release clauses, am unable to renegotiate to remove them, causing all players with release clauses to be sold as soon as their value is equal to, or greater than the release clause. Had a number of instances where an existing player had six years or more left on their current contract, all of them were sold below market value, and the manager rating plummeted by the board for taking huge loses.
I can confirm this bug is present on PC as well. And it does not only affect manager career. I also created a save on player career mode and all squad players, including your own has this bug. A fix for something this game breaking cannot wait until next title update.
Same issue here. Logged in today in my year three season. Not sure if a new update these past few days triggered something but now 40/44 of my roster has the message “not willing to renew contract.” The only four that instead say “contract accepted” I just signed in the latest transfer window.
Other EA forum posts on this subject I saw EA reply this is a new feature and is working as intended. There is NO CHANCE that this is working as intended. 100% roster turnover for your existing team?
Need to literally freeze our career modes until they fix this. Never seen a bug so game breaking as this one. 10% of roster choosing this option seems excessive. 100% is ludicrous.

I’m in the year 2029 and just in the last day EVERY player on my team has a “Not willing to renew contract” status, even players out on loan show the same message and guys that I just recently signed to 4yr deals. Even players i recently promoted from the academy.

PC player here, also in my first season 25/26 I can’t renew any contracts, in the next season the players are angry but still can’t negotiate a new one, this has ruined Career mode completely.
I’m only in the first season since I thought with the new holiday patch some bugs would get sorted out so I decided to start fresh once again but unfortunately there seems to be more bugs instead of fixes.
Every single player is the squad is reflecting this same status. “ Not willing to renew contract”Also under actions for your career player you no longer get any options as you would before. Such as, “transfer request or request a loan.” The only option is to retired.
Several visual bugs that are very annoying is after scoring a goal with your player instead of showing the highlights is shows the middle of the field, you are no longer able to select ankle tape on your career player. Also forget about tuck shirts in the game they all just bleed right in to the shorts looks awful.
I personally like many of other players had some high expectations and excitement and belief EA would please listen and solve the issues affecting the game for many years now but I really think is time to give up guys this game will never be what it used to be many many years ago!

can any of you provide an update? This is impacting multiple users including myself. Very frustrating considering how much this game costs. A major major bug that needs fixing asap

I have the same problem. All older saves show the same error.
Now I can't even play career mode. FC 26 is a complete mess.
