Controller in rivals not working

My controller works perfectly everywhere in FC26, in menus, squad battles and other modes, but as soon as I enter Rivals it stops working completely. I cant move or do anything, even though it still works fine outside of online matches.
I have already tried restarting the game and my PC, and I have watched many videos on how to fix it, but none of the tips worked. Please help fix it.

    Hey kx726mxddugy​  Please be sure to use the controller throughout the entire boot and loading process. Don’t switch from the keyboard to the controller. Check out a few additional troubleshooting steps in our guide here

    So if I accidentally move my mouse an inch because I bumped my desk, I need to restart my game to make sure I only use my controller?
