Re: PC Controller NOT WORKING online - Why it fails and how to temporarily solve it

When playing FC26 on a PC (laptop) using a wired Sony DualSense (PS5) controller, the controller input becomes unresponsive or delayed during specific online game modes: Rivals, Early Tournament, and Pro Clubs. The issue does not occur in offline modes like Kick-Off or Career Mode, indicating a potential conflict with the game's online connectivity or specific mode mechanics.

The problem manifests as a significant degradation in controller responsiveness. Actions such as passing, shooting, sprinting, and player switching have a noticeable delay (input lag) or fail to register entirely. This makes the game nearly unplayable in the affected modes.

  • Modes Affected:
    • Division Rivals: Input lag is most pronounced, especially during peak gameplay moments.
    • Early Tournament: Similar unresponsiveness occurs, making precise controls difficult.
    • Pro Clubs (Both Drop-In and Club Matches): The issue persists, negatively impacting the experience for the entire team.
  • Modes NOT Affected:
    • Kick-Off (Offline)
    • Career Mode (Player and Manager)
    • Skill Games
    • Menus and navigation throughout the game work flawlessly.

The controller is recognized by the game and Windows, and all buttons are mapped correctly. The issue is specifically related to in-game responsiveness during online matches in the aforementioned modes.

  1. Connect a Sony DualSense (PS5) controller to a Windows laptop/PC via a USB cable.
  2. Boot FC26 and ensure the controller is the primary input device.
  3. Navigate to the Online tab and enter any of the following modes:
    • Division Rivals
    • Early Tournament
    • Pro Clubs (Drop-In or Club Match)
  4. Start a match.
  5. Observe the inconsistent and delayed response to controller inputs during gameplay.

Expected Result: The controller should provide immediate and consistent feedback for all actions, as it does in offline modes.

Actual Result: The controller inputs are delayed, "sticky," or sometimes ignored, leading to a compromised gameplay experience.

  • PC Operating System: Windows 11
  • Laptop Model:  Lenovo Legion 5i
  • Controller: Sony DualSense (PS5) Controller
  • Connection Method: Wired USB
  • Game Platform: EA App
  • In-Game Settings: Controller Type set to "PS5" in FC26 settings. Tried with both "Default" and "Alternative" controller configurations.
