Every goal is skyhigh

I’ve been playing FIFA since the 2000s, I get the game every year so I know how it should play. Since it came out until about 2 weeks ago I’ve been playing career mode fine, had multiple careers and been enjoying it.  now I can’t seem to score a goal. Every it’s only every so often I actually get to score now, other than that every goal is sky high. I’ve changed difficulty from world class to amateur, same issue. Ive changed the shot error sliders down to 1 and up to 99 to see if the issue is there, same issue they don’t actually seem to make a difference.  I’ve also downloaded the Xbox One version rather than the XS and still the same issue.  Even open goal shots still end up sky high, it’s now becoming unplayable as every game is either a loss or 0-0. 
anyone got any ideas on how to fix this or is this a bug that I’ve got to wait out?
