This result is strange, too.
No matter how outstanding my performance is, if I request a substitution during the match, I won’t be selected as Player of the Match.
However, other players are selected as Player of the Match, even if they are substituted during the match, as long as their RR is the same as mine.
This logic is highly unreasonable.
If you are selecting players based on clear criteria, please could you clarify them?
If your response satisfies all users, I will accept it.
If you cannot clarify the criteria, I will assume that you acknowledge this flaw in the logic. - perfectioncat6 days agoSeasoned Veteran
Is this image proof of a critical bug?
Both NAGI and M. Caicedo have an RR of 10.0.
(In fact, I’m not even sure if M. Caicedo’s RR is actually 10.0.)
What's more, both players were substituted during the match.
NAGI scored six goals that sealed the victory.
Caicedo scored none.
Given this situation, why was Caicedo selected as Player of the Match? - perfectioncat9 days agoSeasoned Veteran
This image shows the results of the match.
Three players have an RR of 10.0, and R. Cherki was named 'Player of the Match'.
However, the rating values for all players except NAGI are incorrect.
The 'Shot Accuracy (%)' value is incorrect.
Gundogan took five shots and scored three goals.
Cherki took 10 shots and scored 3 goals.
Yet both players have a 'Shot Accuracy (%)' of 80%.
Could this be a calculation error?
Does “Shot Accuracy (%)” refer to whether the ball went on target?
I generally assume that shots blocked by the goalkeeper or that go wide do not count towards this statistic. - aldashin10 days agoNew Spectator
EA_Darko - I've had similar experiences myself!
As a recent example - in one league match I scored 14 (!) goals with 2 assists. Overall rating of 10, with ratings of 9.3 Dribbling, 10.0 Shooting, 10.0 Passing, and 10.0 Defending. I played LM.
Teammate had 1 goal with 5 assists. Overall rating of 10, but with generally lower ratings of 8.2 Dribbling, 6.5 Shooting, 10.0 Passing, and 7.3 Defending. They played RM, so the rating weights were the same. However, they got Player of the Match.
Based on this match and several matches with similar performances that have equally baffling Player of the Match awards, along with a similar aggregate miss with Ballon d'Or, my hunch is it's possible to do too well statistically. I know that sounds like bragging :) It's not my intention. It's more to say - if you play well past a certain unknown threshold, it can unintentionally lead to a stack overflow or other similar math error where the game calculates your contributions lower than they should. As a result, the award goes to what should be the 2nd ranked player.
I get not everything under the hood in a game can be shown to players; the mystery is part of the point. That said, I've been playing games for decades, and I worked in QA for about a decade. I know software systems and game systems pretty well. I can usually figure out and understand developer intention, even if I disagree with it. This is not that. It feels not difficult, but instead opaque and cheap and nonsensical. Either it's bugged or the intention is questionable. Either way, it should be changed.

This reminds me of career mode
You can have player of the match every single week
You can have player of the month every single month
You can win every trophy
You can top the goals scored
You can top assists

WHY?

Based on past trends, I would have expected Torres to win in this situation, but this time it’s different.
I’m finding it increasingly difficult to understand how these decisions are made. - perfectioncat12 days agoSeasoned Veteran
Since the screen capture doesn’t accurately represent the colors, I’ve also attached a screenshot from a video recording.
Alexander from RCM was substituted during the match.
If a player I created is substituted, they aren’t selected as Player of the Match. However, other players are selected, even if they’re substituted.
Regardless of their performance, if their RR is 10.0, they’re selected, and the player I created is ignored.
I believe this is clearly a bug in the selection logic. - perfectioncat14 days agoSeasoned Veteran

I don't understand why Vini Jr. was named "Player of the Match".
