I think I got the solution for now

Try to change the settings to fullscreen mode, I was in borderless and it solved the problem

This is the worst, getting DNFs over this, this was a thing last EA FC too. They simply dont care it seems. And there's so many possible ways to fix it. Multi monitor setups are normal for PC users and usually require borderless for it to work smoothly, one shouldn't have to always tip toe in this game because otherwise things break. In EVERY other comp game, there is a chance to like quick restart the game if one needs to sort some things out, and one can usually rejoin the lobby but for some reason this game just hardlocks your choice completely. A PC setup assumes multiple inputs constantly (as KBM is always an option) but i'd say either being able to rejoin lobby OR being able to change inputs at least on PC is an easy fix for this. I work as a programmer and they could also easily implement a "desired controller" function, or just lock the switching once you have chosen your desired controller, with whatever error-handling one would want if they were to encounter any discrepancy or whatever, but they just wont do it. So many potential ways to solve it but I would not count on them solving it this year either im afraid. 

I also submitted a ticket regarding this, and I recommend everyone encountering this to do so as well.

SAME PROBLEM AND IM TIRED OF LOSING GAMES LIKE THIS

Same, happened to me multiple times. The controller works properly in the menu and even in the menu while in the match, but can't use it to control players. Very frustrating

It's the same for me, why are EA so bad at making so small changes like cmon

I LOST MY FIRST GAUNTLET ENTRY BECAUSE THE COTROLLER IS NOT WORKING IN THE GAMEPLAY AND THERE IS NO COMPENSATING FROM THE GAME!!!!

Same here, just happened to me in gauntlet im so livid

EA FIX THIS FN BUG I'M LOSING GAMES LEFT AND RIGHT BECAUSE OF THIS GARBAGE

So many gifted wins to others and DNFs for me. I played a full 90 minute match just trying to learn the keyboard since this GLITCH/BUG happens so consistently. I watched my opponent score 9 goals and attempted to score a 10th with their goalie, THANK YOU EA for the SKILL GAP between controllers and keyboards.
