Players do not disappear in survival mode

I was playing a game in the TOTY Event 3 friendly mode, which is the survival game mode. My opponent scored with their striker (Ruben garcia) and eventually scored a second goal. From there I realised the player never left the pitch after scoring, which should be the game mode. It is also seen at the top that my opponent scored 4 goals, but had 3 players that left the pitch. Is this some kind of bug or was my opponent cheating? Video does not want to upload but I have footage available.
