Unable to select archetype other than defender or midfielder

Not sure when this started but after the lates update, I tried to start a new player career(not pro clubs) and after the base profile editing phase, when it came to select an archetype, the attacker and goalkeeper were greyed out. I cleared caches and did lots of other things directed by technical agents but it didn't change. So now i can't really play the game because player career is really the only reason i keep buying FC.
