So I tried using the EA launcher just to see, the game would still crash.
My PC updated to Windows 11, version 25H2 on Feb 21st, after which I was able to launch the game finally.
Unfortunately, yesterday the game started crashing my PC again exactly as it did before.
I may try defunkt_CS1 's suggestion but this is a very frustrating issue.
