Game-pad controls stops working, stuck on keyboard controls

Im using a Steam Controller to play, after couple of minutes the game disable the game pad ( the buttons change to PC's, game enters the menu screen, cant use the menu radial wheel for quick drop etc. I have to alt tab to fix this, but after another couple of seconds/minutes the issue is back.
