Map bug

After I completed "Transition 101", my task was to check out the map, when I entered the map, a dialogue saying "New City Challenges appear everyday!", I accidentally pointed down-left with the left joystick and just walk endlessly away from the marked City Challenge icon until I reached the wide sea but continued going and I couldn't get it back cuz of the black thing around the icon.
