I start a challenge and the challenge never starts. The HUD disappears and I can't access the pause menu or any of the in-game menus. I can still skate around but it looks like the game has put me into some sort of limbo world where there are no other players and I'm not doing a challenge. Just stuck in-between. The only way to fix it is to End Task and re-open the game. It happens constantly though, so that doesn't really fix anything anyway.
Had something similar happen. We had to turn off crossplay and back on. Not a complete fix but help for an hour :) these bugs are annoying!

Still an issue. Trying to do the 7 Ply challenge. Can't do co-op because of this
The issue happens when going to the social section and then trying to start a challenge. A workaround to avoid the social tab is to connect with players inside your lobby using the right stick interaction. Not ideal, but it can hopefully help get you through the season until a patch fixes the issue.
