I'm not sure if this promotional offer is still running as I've waited over a week to receive what I attempted to redeem, but here's the story:
I saw on r/Galaxyofheroes that there was a promotional bundle that would be given to a player if they purchased an Apple gift card of a certain amount. I purchased a $50 apple gift card. As some users reported from Reddit, SWGoH offered a redeemable in-game bundle of equal value (which capped at $50. Some users tried purchasing a $200 apple gift card and still received a $50 value in-game bundle, so I only bought $50 worth.)
I went ahead and followed the steps many users reported worked: hopped on Target's website, bought said gift card, received an email with the code to redeem the gift card, and I got my apple gift card redeemed to my Apple account. Surely enough, as my attachments to this report will show, I received an offer to redeem the bundle of equal value to the gift card I purchased. When I pressed redeem, I received a few error messages. I figured it was because I needed to reload the app, which I promptly did.
When I reloaded the app, I did not receive the bundle in my inbox. I tried restoring purchases, did not work. One user on Reddit reported having the same issue and recommended trying to purchase something in the in-game store; If a user did that they would receive an error message saying "Can't purchase. There is a sale pending." That is exactly what happened to me when I tried to purchase something in-game. But for me, that method to fixing my problem did not work. I never did receive my bundle.
I do use Apple for many things so I know the gift card won't go to waste. However, I still feel slighted because I wouldn't have purchased the gift card under normal circumstances. I usually just pay with card for anything Apple, so the gift card was unnecessary. I figured, "Hey I'll buy this gift card to pay for Apple things I already pay for and as a nice bonus I will receive some in-game rewards for a game I enjoy playing." It is unfortunate that this promotion hasn't turned out in my favor, so I'm hoping to receive some sort of assistance in resolving this issue.
List of things I've already tried:
1. Reload app several times
2. Clicked restore purchases in app
3. Attempted to purchase something else. But there is no longer an "error. Sale pending" message when I attempt to purchase something else.
4. I had an exchange with a rep with the in-game help, they advised me to wait 24-72hrs after redeeming to see the rewards in my inbox. They also advised to restore purchases. Of course, I wouldn't be writing here if those solutions had worked. They then advised me to reach out to Apple concerning this purchase. When I check my apple account, it says I paid a $0.00 transaction in SWGoH for what I imagine is the bundle I did not receive. So there is a paper trail of me having gone through the process which in theory would mean I should have received the bundle by now. Alas, I have not. And unfortunately, the in-game help rep wasn't able to assist even when I sent them screenshots plainly showing I hadn't received the era level currency, era leveling materials, and Kyber LST I was supposed to receive with the bundle.
I have already tried talking to Apple about it. They have yet to reach out to me about my report. So reporting here is kind of a hail mary.
If there is nothing that can be done, so be it. At least I exhausted all of my options.
