Thanks to VaultTechbro on Discord for figuring out the solution, and to LadyGeek-twd for posting the solution to reddit.
When the dialogue first comes up with "Continue as Guest/Log In", continue as guest. You'll have to complete the onboarding tutorial as you can't access the Settings menu on the Cantina screen until you complete it. Once you complete it, go into Settings>Connect>Import Account. You will then be taken to an EA account login dialogue. Log in, the game will restart and you will be logged back in.
This does not work. It says error code 9
