Unable to join raid launched after guild merger

Unable to join raid launched after guild merger

We just went through a successful guild merger (3 guilds into 2), and everything went surprisingly smooth, minimal churn, except for a problem with the raid.

A few hours after all of the incoming players, myself included, had joined the guild in game, the officers launched the Naboo raid. According to posts by devs, there was no longer supposed to be a cooldown on joining a guild and being able to join a raid.

Also, according to the troubleshooting tree that was in the EA help box:

“We no longer enforce a waiting period on players who have recently switched guilds, so you shouldn’t see any problems joining because of that.”

From all we can tell, this is a bug, but it’s not one that will affect many players, as most don’t change guilds regularly. I hadn’t changed guilds for years, except to lend a hand back when hAAT was hot.

15 of my guild mates missed out on the 130 million point guild reward box. I always pull the 6.2 million point personal reward, as I have been getting 6.9 million points total on this raid. Nice. I know.

I would hope that compensation would be to receive both guild and personal rewards that each player has historically received.

I provided screenshots of my past runs and totals as well as the guild’s total for the raid that we were unable to fully participate in. I could post them here, but it feels like bragging.

This seems like an easy case to me. Compensate and flag this as an error that hasn’t been fixed. Instead, I’m posting here, asking for upvotes to get EA/CG’s attention. That was EA help’s suggestion.

“I completely understand how you must be feeling as an avid gamer and would like to thank you for letting us know and also sharing that since we don't have any information on whether this is working as expected or if it is a bug, we've filed this as a bug report for review. In the meantime, there may be other players who have submitted similar comments or have similar issues on AHQ for you to upvote.”

The link to AHQ of course, redirects to this forum. You can’t believe how disappointed I was that nothing funny happened on the way here.

it is not working as expected. It is a bug. Thank you for your time. Thank you even more for an upvote that might bring this to the attention of the devs.

As far as I can say, Raid cooldown period is disabled when joining a new guild from a starter guild. However, I need to check with studio to clarify this issue in case the update was made in the last few months.

All I can say is that for the raid that I believe ended on March 20, 15 new players couldn’t take part in the raid.

You can see the raid here, going from 47 players taking place, down to 35, and when the scores are updated for the most recent raid,, we are up to 48.

    Any movement on the bug?

I ask because last night, I got a message via the in game help, from someone that was taking over the ticket that was asking for information that 1) was already provided, and 2) was completely and totally irrelevant to the issue. And then... they said that since I hadn't responded, they were closing the ticket.

The time stamp between message 1 and message 2 were identical. This second person was just closing a ticket to make their numbers look better.

    I'm not happy.

    EA Help doesn't.

I started a new ticket and person 3 responded asking me almost the same questions... completely irrelevant and ones that I had already answered. I answered them, then gave the entire history of the bug, and person 4 (yes, a fourth person) said that they had taken down the details of my problem (that really feels like BS at this point), that I should post here, and maybe something would happen.

Two things that would fix this?

Do what every help center is already training their people to do. Read our responses to the questions that the help tree asks, and don't just mindlessly copy/paste responses in. It's insulting.

Then prove to the customer that you understand the problem. This is called active listening. Ask a question, read the response, then restate, in your own words, what you understand the problem to be. Ask if that is correct. Often, the customer will realize that they didn't explain the issue 100% accurately, they will clarify, and you can go from there.

I don't know if person 4 understands the problem, or if they were just closing another ticket because that's what they get evaluated for.

Put more simply, if I wanted a runaround, I'd have gone to the track.

And I can confirm that the problem is not fixed. We had a player join 3 days ago, our raid launched a day and a half ago, and they are excluded from joining the raid.

If you're not going to fix the problem, tell us. Just say that you tried to fix it, but can't, and maybe it will be fixed at some point in the future.

Saying that there isn't a cooldown on joining the raid anymore, when there is, even if it isn't affecting everyone... looks bad.

EA Help makes it feel pointless to try.

I don't wish unemployment on anyone in this economy, but I do wish a complete overhaul of how EA help interacts with it's customer base. This is business communications 101 stuff. I find it hard to believe that there are no people on the supervisory level of EA help that haven't taken a class on the subject.
