[AA] [IL] Family Lot Will Not Load

this isn't exactly my issue. i can play on the same Save file, and also Save w a different household. the family i'm trying to play is per the Event, and also my only current family w children. i started playing today and the father and one child were off-lot.
attempted to play the child and return him to home, CTD. tested again, CTD.
played as the father, he's swimming in the ocean - the house is also in Sulani bt he was on neighbor's lot. swam him to shore and attempted to go home, CTD. played father, realized the wife was "Late to Work" as Camp Counselor [AA]. sent her to work. (i don't remember selecting this a job for her, bt might-of during event ... she was close to Top of career, so might have changed after promotion). as father was near work schedule, i called for vacation day and moved both kids to lot (of the neighbor's).
found which son had the stuff animal and proceeded w quest, told the father to go home. moved both children to Willow Creek and Slyvan Glade. bcs of near time for scouts, they rushed off to work ... loading home lot, and CTD.
attempted again and was able to get one child through the Event, (other was home/scouts). Event "Return Home" and this led to another CTD. i saved the game before attempting to leave Glade to home, incase i had a CTD.
figured it might it might be an issue w the mother Camp Counselor. so i played another family on same Save. no issues, bt cannot do any Event (since family doesn't have child) - also, this reset the Event back to start of quest?? played the new family up through Tue night, so mother would have been home and not work. attempt to load household/lot and another CTD.
if i open the lot to Edit and Build the lot, it's no issue. it's just when trying to load the family and lot together? Verified Files, still CTD. Clear User Folder as recommended and did finish the Event. hwvr, all previous saves are gone and fear that adding them back will lead to same locked family lot.
