Sims 4 Crashes when Loading Lots

Hi,

Since I updated my game, I've been experiencing crashes to the desktop (with no error message or last exception) when loading lots (usually when selecting the option to edit them from Managa Worlds). This does not occur when mods/CC are disabled, so I am pretty sure that it's a problematic mod (it still occurs when only script mods are disabled). But because I have TONS of mods, I am not sure which one is causing the crashing. I have every single pack, and I'm running the game in DX 11.

I have attached the crash log and my DxDiag.

  • n3913  Please try a clean user folder, to be thorough and because it's faster than reinstalling the game.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and test these same lots.

If that doesn't help, instructions for clean-uninstalling Sims 4 are in the accepted solution of this thread:

UPDATE: Removing all the mods from the mods folder doesn't solve the issue. Also, the problem now persists even after disabling mods/CC in-game, so I don't know what's causing this.

I'm currently having the same issue. What's going on with the updates and how do we find a solution?

  • n3913  To be clear, do these crashes happen if you remove your Mods folder?  Disabling mods and cc appears not to work fully at times.

If these crashes happen with the Mods folder removed, does it matter which lot(s) you load?  I'm wondering whether there's a problematic object left over on some of your played lots, for example a plate from a custom recipe (although that typically produces an error code).

  • MamaEKMiller  Are you having exactly the same issue—the game crashes when loading certain lots via Manage Worlds, and you see no error code on-screen?  Does this happen with no mods or cc present?

    Hi.

Removing the Mods folder did not work (still got a crash). Also, the only lots I've tested this with were Riverside Roost in Willow Creek and both Crow's Perch and Cozy Casket House in Ravenwood (the Cozy Casket House is the most likely of the three to crash, as one save that I made on that lot refuses to load the lot when selecting the option to resume from the main menu). I do not believe that it's a problematic object causing this, as it also happens with new saves.

    Hi,

Just tried what you said, and it worked (thank you)! I will be moving my saves and mods back into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 momentarily.

    Thank you again!

...And re-adding everything causes the issue to happen again. Also, I noticed that it only happens on saves made with mods enabled, meaning that I could try the 50/50 technique to narrow it down.

Just narrowed down the problematic mod (and contacted the developer)! Things seem to be working fine now!

  • n3913  Great, would you mind listing the mod in question?  It would be useful information if the mod isn't already known to be broken.
