I had noticed my save file getting a bit large, just cracked 30MB, and decided to give my save a clean up, using Sims 4 Studio and Crinrict's helpful guide here https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2024/12/clean-saves-with-s4studio-basics/
I noticed something alarming when doing so. 3 of my sims, all of whom have Skillful Sleep, had many duplicates.
(this is the same sim, she just got married. but that helps illustrate how long this has been going on)So the skillful sleep projections are just piling up. Luckily, you could tell which one was the OG, because they had stuff in their inventory, and the projections didn't. I deleted all the skillful sleep projections. doing JUST that, no other cleaning of the save, removed just over 5 MB from my save. Well, found the source of the bloat. If I had not caught this, because I play on long lifespans and rotationally, this could have REALLY built up over time, and possibly contributing to save corruption.
I do use mods, in particular I thought that MCCC's 'cleaner' module may have been blocking their deletion because they were viewed as family ghosts or something. So after i finished cleaning up the inventories and whatnot, I removed all my mods, cleared my cache, and began testing. I had January (spellcaster) and Johnny (human ghost) both skillful sleep twice, and yes, it did generate two new copies of each in the save.
Then I went to Vlad's place, and had a little sleepy time. I wanted to make sure the game's own cleaning processes had lots of time to work. I kept him hibernating for 2 weeks.
After I woke him up again, i saved, and checked the file... the extra copies were still there.
