Guys I think I'm figuring out what's going on now. Today I just found out some of my paitings turned blank, not all of them, only the paintings I created this year turned white, all the other old paintings from past years are still fine. It's something to do with the update for sure, but it's not all that bad I'll explain it later. So I exit my current household to the munu and try loading my saves from last month, all my paintings are fine, but after I save the game and reload, those paintings I created this year become overexposed, then I finally see what are the devs trying to do here.
Those overexposed or blank paintings were very low quality, you can check my screenshot, I tried to create new paitings just for comparison, my sim's photography and paitings skills are maxed btw. Here you can see the paintings with a yellow dress woman are created months ago, the white dressed woman paintings are created today, you should see the quality difference. (The painting references are all based on photos, I took the phto then enlarge it on the wall and paint it, so the model don't have to sit on the chair forever.)
As we can see the painting quality created this patch looks better than previous update this year, and I'm guessing the devs also changed the default lighting of "paint from reference" arts. I took the picture with no filter and it looks brighter after I paint it (check the 1st pic on the left for example). But overall I think the change is fine, you probably have to dump all the low quality or blank paintings but at least you can create better quality paintings from now on!? You can always change the lighting in game or install some visual mods anyway. I only wish the devs could have tell us more about what they've actually changed so I don't have to test it myself, and I'm still kinda worried what they are going to do next.
