This bug is still happening to me even after the patch that claimed they fixed it. It is related to custom tattoos imported from the Gallery. The following are the steps to [almost] guarantee the bug to trigger. Do note that a household with custom tattoos must be saved in your Gallery’s local library prematurely, and that you’ve just launched (or restarted) your game after the fact.
- In the main menu, view your Gallery and refer to “My Library” where downloaded and saved trays are locally stored.
- Might be a requirement, but I’m going to include this as a separate step either way. Make sure that the household with the Sim that has custom tattoos are in view.
- Opt out of the Gallery and make a New Save. If you’re already in a save, refer to Create-A-Sim in Manage World / any way to get into CAS would probably be fine; the goal is to get to CAS.
- Now, load or import the aforementioned household containing the Sim with custom tattoos into Create-A-Sim.
The Sim in question would probably now have the pitch-black skin texture bug. One way to workaround this, which isn’t and shouldn’t dissuade the team from properly patching this bug, is to restart your game and avoid doing steps 1 and 2, just go to a New Save or load a save game and enter Create-A-Sim if you want to add a Sim with custom tattoos from your local library. Another way (someone pointed out on Reddit) is to remove all tattoos at once and reapplying them—you can save your custom tattoos beforehand and place them again if you’d like.
