When I buy an object e.g. a chair I place it but when I select for another object, it won't place. What I have to do is go back to live mode then onto build and buy again. Get's a bit frustrating when doing a room.
This is the first time I've had a real issue with bugs in the game (I know lucky).

I actually decided to leave mods/cc off since the update
There's an open bug report that could be your issue: Can't make changes to build
From what I know, symptoms can vary.
