Cannot set parents for pre-existing sims

Same.  I can assign either parent, but not both, so I had to have a storyline where the mom married the stepdad right after she left their father when the youngest was just born, but the stepdad was secretly  their bio dad which is why they look like him. They have his last name now but aren't truly related under the law (EA).

I tried adding a couple of elder Sims from my library and assigning them as parents to an adult Sim in the family I'm editing, but there was just no parent options for them at all. 😢

• There’s 8 sims in a household. I first transferred the sim I wanted to edit a relationship with, I did cas.fulleditmode so I could edit their relationships (I did do testingcheats true), I could make the two new sims (both elders) parents and children, but the pre-existing sim (who is an adult)  I tried to make it the child of the two sims, but it won’t let me. It doesn’t show on the list at all. Whats the problem, and why can’t I make the sim the parent/child of another sim. But I can make them siblings though.

CONCEPTUAL ERROR Stop Randomly Adding "Unknown" Parents/Children and Allow Full CAS Editing

The Sims 4 has a major bug and conceptual error that completely ruins family dynamics and storytelling because the game randomly adds "Unknown" parents or children to family trees even when some Sims shouldn't have them. This issue is highly annoying for players like me who have spent years carefully creating and building their own Sims, which are my personal creations and exist in the world, yet the system disrupts their established relationships. EA needs to fix this immediately so the game stops generating these random "Unknown" slots, and they must implement a feature in CAS (Create A Sim) that allows players to manually modify and replace these errors with a real father or mother regardless of the Sims' current ages. BTW, I'm a PC player, and obviously I have Growing Together expansion and lot of others.

Hello! I writing that post because my game just broke 2 weeks ago. Relationships between already created sims and new maded sims are completly broken for me.When i was making a parents for both of my male sims ( males was living in world already) i add parents for them i pick the mom and dad as relationship in cas,after that first what was weird to me was the thing about game registered only one of them as a son. I was " okey so im gonna delete the parents and add them again." And after enter cas again my game completly brokes. I can't pick for them anything than " partner" or "brother" any other option disappered from list. And it is for all family in game now. I can't edit any of living sims already on the world. Even if i want to change from "wife" "to family member" the option is bugged and it didin't change.I was trying fix game option in eaapp and reinstall the game but didin't work. Game is unplayable  now.I never use any mods and i playing on pc using eaapp.

I created a new family but only  made the kids at first (young adult brother and teen brother) but when I went back to create their parents cas would only allow me to set one sim as their parent not both. I tried cheats and that didn’t work either 

I made a family in CAS with two female Sims and two children. I set one of them to "can get others pregnant" and the other to "can get pregnant" so that I could make them have biological children.

When I looked back at the family in the Gallery, I realized one of them wasn't set as their mother, so I went to fix it in the relationship tab in CAS. When I tried to change the other Sim to be the child's mother, the first mother gets changed to just a household member. It won't let both Sims be listed as the children's parents at the same time.

It doesn't work with mods on or disabled, and I'm playing on PC. I also tested another family that's set up the exact same way with different Sims, and it works correctly. So for some reason, this seems to only be happening with this specific family.
