Can't delete objects or place floor/wallpaper

Since the most recent update I havew been facing issues in build/buy mode. I am unable to delete objects either by selecting and using the delete key or by using the sledgehammer tool. The item will highlight as usual but then nothing happens when I delete. I am also unable to place wallpaper or flooring. The swatch appears on screen in the place I click but then disappears immediately. It won't let me place by shift clicking either. I play on PC via EA App, no CC. I do use MC Commad Centre but uninstalled it and the issue persists.

i have had this issue too every now and again. idk why it happens and they only way i have been able to fix it is by repairing the game through the EA app. super annoying and ridiculous that this happens. I have delt with it at least four times over the past year.
