The tan/beige cat I created is showing up all black. I went to the change sim screen and although the fur color selection is correct, the cat is still black. Not sure how to fix it. I do not use any ...

I have the Cats and Dogs pack and the Ranch pack and none of the textures for the animals coats are showing.
Yesterday I spent a couple hours painting my pets only to be horrified when I see them as completely black models when I go to play the game the next day.
It seems that only the animals that have been custom painted are displaying this issue.
The animals that have stock/non-painted in game textures appear as expected.
The animals have their eye texture as expected and the hair seems to display as expected on the horses.
In the attached images, the animals are not supposed to be black. The cat is a cat from PugOwned (the sims creator) and the horses should be leopard spotted and blanketed (they should look realistic).
This is happening on PC too with all painted cats, dogs, and werewolves. I haven't seen it with horses yet but you're the third person besides me to have it. I thought it was a default eye replacement conflicting. It's not.

It happened to 3 of my "calico" cats in the game -- which were not "painted" but created with a standard "coat" selection in CAS. :(
this isnt exclusive to animals, it seems to also happen with custom tattoos. not all the time, but seems like the custom painting tool is bugged in general
Yes, I'm thinking the game has lost the ability to "see" the custom overlay and is rendering it as all black. Anything that can be painted is voiding out eventually.
Omg yes !! It’s probably due to the new match, I hope they fix it soon because I have quite a lot of sims with custom tattoos and with the new fairy pack coming up it’s gonna be a bummer if you can’t use that feature to créature without it simply not working :(
All my pets in my households and my other households have lost all texture since the new nature update, I replaced every pet with a textured one, but when I logged back in again they was all black again.
PLEASE DO NOT REDIRECT THE POST INTO ONE THAT IS LIKE 4 YEARS OLD, AND NEVER GETS LOOKED INTO THIS IS AN PROBLEM NOW!! AFTER THE NATURE UPDATE!!

I am having the same problem! I am currently working on my own save and all the pets in all my households have this issue, I don't have any CC for pets other than eye defaults and don't think it's the issue bc after replacing the pets with a new on the texture problem hasn't come back so that's the only fix I found so far.
I'm also experiencing this issue in my game. Until yesterday, all pets were normal, but after I overwrote my save, they all turned pitch black. I tried creating new pets, and at first it seemed to work, but whenever I saved the game, closed it, and then reloaded the save, the same bug would appear on the new animals too.
I even tested older saves, and while the pets initially looked fine, the texture issue came back after reloading the save.
I'd like to know if continuing to play on this save could affect it permanently, even if a future update fixes the bug. I've already disabled mods, changed graphic settings, and tried various adjustments, but nothing has worked so far.
I really hope EA fixes this soon, because I just want to be happy playing The Sims again — and not become a mildly depressed young person without access to my virtual pets (that last part is said with irony, of course)
Here for the same reason. Never had this happen before; now that the nature update has dropped, all pets have been replaced with black, texture-less voids. I can't believe this somehow got missed- or if they even did any play testing at all.

Some what relieving to see that it's not just me. I can confirm that I am seeing the same issue that all the other commenters are reporting in this thread. Everything looks as it should until after I save and restart the game, then all custom painted elements are gone.
Please be sure when fixing this that those same custom elements on animals and other sims are still editable as expected.I've played the last two days without this issue, but today opened my game up to one cat & dog in my household to be all black, while one cat without paint mode still had normal coloring. I removed my mods & cc, but the issue was still happening when I loaded my game up again. I know this glitch can also happen to sims that have custom tattoos, but it hasn't effected the sim with them in that same household.
I am also having this bug! I went to play my usual game after the update, and now my side-family's cat is just a shadow 😅
I'm having the same problem currently. Any pets that have custom paint applied are now missing their texture. I played earlier today and this wasn't happening. I play on PS5.
Same exact issue here. All my custom painted pets are black voids...
This just happened to me. It's really annoying because I spent a while on some custom textures, and I found that if I try to edit one of the blacked out horses and go to paint it the default coat comes back while I'm in the painting mode, but all the customization I did on it is gone, and it blacks out again after I exit the painting mode. I really hope this gets fixed soon and that if it does the custom textures are restored and not just completely reset.
