I fill my pets bowls and have a sim call the pets, the pets go to the bowl but do not eat from it. I have tried using different pet bowls and having them in different places but they still won't eat. It shows them as uncomfortable and at risk of being taken away.

Having the same issue. They are complaining of starving and I can’t call them to eat at all.
I am still getting this issue that my grown dogs and cats cannot eat themselfs. I have to call them to eat so the actually eat. This same goes for going potty...
I started a new save and i have constantly had to cheat for my cat to not have a need decay because everytime i fill the pet bowl, she doesn’t want to eat. there is no option on the bowl to call her to eat or anything. even when the bowl is full, she will stand by it and ask for food and will literally sit there uncomfortably.
I'm having the same/similar issue with my pets (dogs & cats). The bowls will be full, but the pets won't eat from the full or partially full bowls unless I fill the bowl and call them to eat. I have the two auto food dispensers placed outside of the building structure.
