Certain Items look broken/invisible (Intel Iris XE, DX9)

I'm trying to build a library in the sims. I badly want to use a specific bookshelf from Discover University, but it glitches indoors. I've scoured online but literally seen nothing like this anywhere. Whats the problem?

Could you please provide the following information

-  Are you using mods/cc in your game ? Please remove them and test without them if you do.
-  Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?

- Press Windows-Key + R
- Type: DxDiag
- Click on Save all Information.
- Attach the Text File to your post

On June 10th, 2025 I found out that the Item Mortimer's Secret Bookcase from the Discover University Expansion Pack does not appear in my game, either in build mode or live mode.

The item is available in build mode, however, when I select it and drag to place it the item does not show up. It's basically invisible. It shows a shadow on the floor where it is supposed to be, if I hover my mouse over where I placed it I can still interact with it in live mode but it is invisible. This is the only item that does that.

I repaired my game at least 15 times since then, to no avail. As of today, on August 2nd, 2025, my game is up to date  with the latest patches, still no bookcase. I even deleted the localthumbcache.package file, still not fixed. I don't have any mods installed. 

I've had the University Pack for a couple months now. But recently two items in the pack are driving me absolutely insane, I attached photos of them below. If they are placed or already on a lot they are completely invisible except for their shadow. If I try to place them in build mode the game completely crashes. Does anyone else have this problem? And is there a way to fix it?

remi2306​  I've merged your post with the master thread for this issue.  Please try running the game in DirectX 11 mode, as described here:

If that doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Dear sir/madam or whoever reads this, 

In my game there is several items that are invisible when placed inside but are completely fine outside. Items I have noticed this with are some showers, some bookshelf’s, wall cabinets for the kitchen and lockers. 
I have tried repairing my game and nothing changed it’s been like this for awhile now as I was hoping the next update would fix the problem. 

I do not use mods so this is not causing the problem.

I'm having this problem too for the first time. Any updates about it? I don't use any mods or CC.

I just want EA to know that I actually want this pack but haven't bought it in the last several sales because of this specific bug.  My laptop has IrisXE and I run the game in DX9 so I guess HSY isn't for me.
