[COL] [HR] All animals dying at the same time (aging on, rotational play)

Previously archived (x3 plus times?) bug not still not resolved.

I just finished a huge project creating a farm, added all my animals, then moved onto another family for a bit of a break (rotational gameplay). I have aging set that I have full control, so that it will only occur when I'm controlling the household, or so I thought.

I've just returned to start playing my farm, and the grim reaper is now doing the rounds reaping ALL of the BRAND NEW farm animals!

Note: The family had been playing in the interim was on a different map altogether. While I did have 'animal aging' on (which I see others have reported was turned off), I do not believe this makes any sense for my entire farm to die off when it has gone un-played.

My settings are as follows:

sounds different then the old issue (although that might have been multiple issues)

How long do you play other families ? If you don't want them to die, it's best to turn off animal aging as well.

Apologies for missing that context! Valid question.

My other family I'm playing in San Sequoia is on the Normal lifespan. I'd say I was playing them for roughly one month (in game). The farm I was running with the other household is in Chestnut Ridge.

So it seems, the lifespan of the farm animals still runs even in other worlds. Which definitely should not be happening and should not be reasonably expected just because you have left 'animal aging' on. Especially since I have turned the setting 'auto-age' unplayed households off.

So it's not that I don't want them to die, more, I just would think that if I'm not playing that household, and then return later to play it, the farm animals should not all suddenly start dying before I've even had a chance to start caring for them...

Not sure if my save file will help you troubleshoot this?

The auto-age settings are only for Sims and Pets/Horses to my knowledge.

Did you create them as adult animals ? Not sure how fast they age on normal age span (or if that even affects the farm animals) but since you created them all at the same time, it makes sense that they die together.

I don't think there's a setting to have them not age while you don't play them but I'm totally unsure on the intention here.

Maxis will need to decide if there's a bug here or not.

This may have been an oversight in their design then.

The cow, llama and chickens etc simply spawned after purchasing them from the barn/coop as adults. Just the normal means of obtaining them. Hopefully Maxis will consider extending the coding to the other animals then. It's just silly not to really 🤔

Thanks for addressing this - and hopefully eventually this will be landing on the laundry list.
