So basically, after updating my game to the newest version yesterday I got this bug where it seems as the buttons for consoles are showing up on my laptop. Like for example, when selecting traits they have an "A" over them and they're unselectable.

No I've never connected a controller to my laptop whatsoever

That looks like an outdated mod.
Please move your mods folder to the desktop, delete Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > localthumbcache, repair your game and then try again on a backup of your save to see of you can duplicate the issue on a game with no mods.
