Dead sims are not greyed out in the relationship panel/Family tree

I’m having an issue where my Sim dies and is correctly shown as deceased in the family tree at first (grayed out as expected). However, after I save the game and reload it later to play again, the Sim is no longer grayed out in the family tree and does not appear as dead anymore. It seems like the death status is not being saved properly.
