did you place the shelves or potions with moveObjects enabled ?
The shelves in the dinning room, I used the ALT key to move the shelves to a different height, but did NOT use the move objects cheat to place them or move them around. I placed the items on the shelves by simply dragging them from the sims inventory and let them snap to the positions on the shelves already placed.
Now the shelves in the kitchen, I DID use the move objects cheat to place the shelves. Then with the move objects turned off, I simply dragging the jars from the sims inventory and let them snap to the positions on the shelves.Since there are known issues with the moo cheat (although usually the actual moo placed object disappears and not items placed in it) could you test if the same thing happens again if you test a new house/save, place the shelves without any cheats on and see if you can dupe it again ?
