According to the thread from 9 months ago, it says that Edith is fixed and won't appear as a random Sim. My game she is appearing as a random Sim still. I don't know if this happened that long ago or...

just to be sure I understand you correctly, you still had Edith as random Sim for a pre-fix save but not on a new one ? I don't think this one is one of the issues that fixes itself with a patch so if it was just the old pre-existing, then it sounds like the bug is fixed.
I will attempt a new save today and see if she is Edith and not a random Sim. I started over with a new save awhile due to heavily corrupted parts of the game, I do not recall when I did it however, I believe it was prior to the Ravenwood expansion, but will see when I play in a bit and report back.
Ok, tested the new save and Edith is back to being a child, so my mistake and not realizing I could self fix the issue from the previous bug and delete the wrong Sim posing as Edith and it corrects itself.
