I have noticed this happening in the refrigerated displays from the new pack, Businesses and Hobbies, and from Get To Work ones too. If I hover over the food it says it has 8 days before spoiling but it spoils in a matter of seconds after adding it to the units.
I play on PC with minimal mods, will try removing them to see if that helps.

OP looks a bit different as it looks like to be during the food sale but need more info from them.It's in the archive so you can't post but it's still active so if you can send your saves (after removing mods) to EA_Solaire that would help.
