Game Crashing & Refusing To Save

Hi all, I have been experiencing a super frustrating bug and was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing it. 

For context, I play completely on a Macbook Pro vanilla with the exception of MCCommandCenter & MCWooHoo. The first time I experienced this bug, I took out all of my mods and cleared local thumb file cache. It's still happening.

I will be playing, and I will try to pause. The game will say "paused" but the red outline on the screen doesn't show up. The sims will move in 3x speed. You can not change the speed, or interact with the sims. When you try to save, it eternally saves forever. 

I'm super frustrated because I have a super nice computer, play vanilla, and yet the game is becoming unusable.
